Despite the onus now on international competition, the football clubs are planning for their 2021/22 campaign. In a bid to tune their playing squad, managers use this window to buy and sell players.
One such player, who has created a significant buzz around him, is Jadon Sancho. He currently plays for the German outfit Borussia Dortmund.
Sancho, 21, is widely regarded as one of the best young talents in the European circuit. Manchester United, one of the heavyweights of club football, envisage him as one of their key figures helping in winning the Premier League.
Despite the concrete interest, the transfer saga has stretched to more than a year. This is because Sancho’s parent club, Dortmund, had demanded above 100 million pounds to sell their asset.
Man United considered the demanded sum as unrealistic, citing the financial impact of coronavirus-induced lockdown across the football industry.
A year later, however, both clubs are keen to find a middle ground and now the much-anticipated transfer could finally materialise for around 80 million pounds.
